PM Modi to Gift Bihar Development Projects Worth ₹12,992 Crore from Gaya: Dy CM Samrat Choudhary
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gaya on August 22, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several key development projects worth ₹12,992 crore. These projects span critical sectors such as infrastructure, power, health, urban and rural development, and tourism, and are expected to accelerate Bihar’s growth trajectory.
Major Inaugurations
The Prime Minister will dedicate six projects worth ₹11,735 crore to the people of Bihar. These include:

Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660 MW capacity, cost ₹6,878 crore)

Sewerage Network and STP Project in Munger (₹523 crore)

Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Muzaffarpur (₹385 crore)

4/6 Lane Expansion of NH-31 with Ganga Bridge between Mokama and Simaria (₹1,871 crore)
-
Upgradation of Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama stretch of NH-31 (₹1,899 crore)

Two-lane upgradation of Bikramganj–Dawath–Nawanagar–Dumraon road (₹179 crore)
Foundation Stone for New Projects
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for eight projects worth ₹1,257 crore, which include:

Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) and Sewerage Networks in Daudnagar and Aurangabad

STPs and I&D projects in Barhiya (Lakhisarai) and Jamui

Water supply and sewerage treatment projects under Amrut 2.0 in Aurangabad, Bodh Gaya, and Jehanabad
Housing for Thousands Under PMAY
As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Prime Minister will hand over homes to 4,260 beneficiaries in urban areas and 12,000 beneficiaries in rural areas. Symbolically, keys will be presented to five families, including three from rural areas and two from urban areas.
Boost to Rail Connectivity and Tourism
PM Modi will also flag off two trains – the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddha Circuit Train from Vaishali to Koderma. These services are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and promote tourism in Bihar.
Development with Employment Opportunities
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary emphasized that these projects will create employment opportunities, improve healthcare facilities, provide clean water, enhance road and transport infrastructure, and expand housing access. He said:
“With nearly ₹13,000 crore worth of projects, Bihar will move faster on the path of development. Under the guidance of PM Modi and the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, Bihar is being transformed into a socially and economically dynamic state.”
